We're in the Bahamas!

Yea we're surprised too. We have been slowly working our way down the intercoastal to Miami, where we planned to cross over to Bimini. Wednesday we traveled from Jupiter inlet to West Palm Beach, having to wait for 5 drawbridges to open for us, and not making much headway each day for various reasons. We were listening to the weather, that night and looking at the map to find likely spots to anchor the next day and it ll started to seem dreary. Another cold front coming thru with rough winds developing and lasting thru the weekend. 

But the winds Thursday would be from the south (the best direction to cross the gulf stream, and West Palm Beach is 52 miles from Grand Bahama Island. So on a whim we decided to leave the next morning and sail to the Bahamas.

Sail we did. The wind was so strong and the ocean so rough, with storms coming thru with rain and lightning. We both got sea sick. it was one rough day into the evening, when we finally dropped anchor off shore about 10 pm, to discover that all our bedding was soaked. Water leaked thru the hatches as it crashed over the deck. And stuff was strewn everywhere. 

I took these pictures when it was sort of rough, at its strongest you wouldn't have caught me with a camera in my hand. Stuff was strewn everywhere in side the boat, from so much rocking and rolling. Im still finding things that repositioned themselves. 

One interesting sight in the ocean was man of war jellyfish everywhere. They are little sailors themselves,  with a jelly sail up pushing them around.  We must have seen thousands.

But now here we sit in the Bahamas, so it was worth it.
