Nassau is a Big City, as the sunrise view shows. We sit on our boat watching cruise ships come and go, sometimes as many as six are parked at the docks. I think the whole town parties on the water on the weekend. Both Friday and Saturday Night  paqrty boats of every size and shape went back and forth down the harbor with music blaring. Big freighters filled with people on thier decks, sail boats, booze and cruise boats, you name it. As we lay in our bunks the music from all these boats were so loud and mingled togeather that it  was impossible to sleep. Thank goodness its only for two nights.

Today we shopped at a Bahamian market for fresh fish and vegetables. The snapper was still flopping around when we picked out the ones we wanted. Then we paid a fisherman to clean them for us. I also bought pidgon peas to cook with rice,
Our dingy started to leak again and we have it back up on deck to try and repatch it with stronger patching glue. At least the old patch got us to Nassau where we could get better supplies. Michael's sister Pattie is coming for a week and we need the dingy up and working.

Its expensive to travel in the Bahamas. There is often not a set price, or we are told prices are higher than whats on the menu, I'm sure we are paying higher prices than the Bahamian does, and I have mixed feelings about that. I know everyone is trying to make a living, but I feel like we are being gouged.

My attempt to work on the boat has not gone well. Internet is not reliable, even in Nassau, and the computer needs charging constantly, which drains our boat batteries. Then unexpected things come up on the boat that are a higher  priority. I feel like our decisions of where  and when to go are driven by my need for wifi, and my favorite places to be are more remote. I'm learning......

  1. Stay in the remote places. That's why you're there. Everything else can just wait. When I see there's not another blog entry, I know you're out there experiencing life!
