We hadn't been on the waterway more than a few minutes when a big pelican flew onto the boat and tried to perch on the safety lines. He was not more than 3 feet away from us! I tried to get the camera to take a picture, but only got a blurry shot of him as he flopped down into the water and swam away.
We are spending our first night at anchor in Daytona, and all systems are go. A very good first day out. We had the genoa out a lot of the day and traveling with the wind helped keep the chill out of the air.
